Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates the tool. That provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained long enough to review and answer it. We keep the message within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server may collect routine technical information about the visit:
- Page-view dates, times, and time spent
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Pages opened during the visit
- A referring site, when one is supplied
- The IP address used by the device
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand traffic in aggregate, including popular pages and where visits end. A browser can block or remove cookies, although disabling them may change how some site features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Maintaining site performance and availability
- Routing a search request to the selected outside service
- Measuring which resources visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, sell, or compile a database of personal criminal records. The site explains how to reach the Grays Harbor County Sheriff, relevant court clerks, the Washington State Patrol repository, and the Washington Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person, and we are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted to a tool is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this one. Each provider chooses its own retention and disclosure practices, which we do not control. Read those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Grays Harbor County offices, Washington courts and agencies, legal resources, or third-party tools. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy rules apply. Review them before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select interest-based ads.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search providers processing a query
- Advertising networks serving ads
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet system is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If such information is identified, it can be removed.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide rights concerning personal data. Washington's Public Records Act, chapter 42.56 RCW, governs access to government records, while the Criminal Records Privacy Act, chapter 10.97 RCW, governs criminal-history dissemination. Neither statute turns this private site into a government records office. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Object to or opt out of certain processing where the law permits
- Request deletion of eligible data
- Ask to correct inaccurate personal information
- Request access to personal information held about them
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. A revised version will appear here with its new effective date.
